Meaford, Ontario – May 2, 2016 – Beginning this week, Municipality of Meaford staff will be offering services at the Sydenham Centre every Thursday from 8:30am to 4:30pm.

Formerly the Sydenham Depot, the building at 458372 Grey Road 11 underwent renovations earlier this year. In addition to serving as one of the locations for the Mayor’s ‘coffee time’ sessions and a meeting place for the Sydenham Optimist’s club, these improvements allow the establishment of municipal services based on a one year pilot schedule at this location. Services will include accepting cash or cheque payments for taxes and utilities, purchasing dog tags and bag tags, and completing rec program registrations, facility bookings and commissioning documents.

In addition to municipal services, Library services will also be offered at the Sydenham Centre on the first and third Thursday of the month in the afternoons from 12-4pm. Staff will be onsite to provide services according to the following schedule:

Administration By Department Department Head Additional Services
First Thursday Customer Service Clerk Legislative and Protective Services Treasurer/ Director of Financial Services and Infrastructure Management Meaford Public Library
(12-4pm)
Second  Thursday Customer Service Clerk Development and Environmental Services Clerk/Director of Legislative and Protective Services
Third Thursday Customer Service Clerk CAO Office CAO

Meaford Public Library
(12-4pm),

Mayor’s Coffee Time (1:30-3pm)

Fourth Thursday Customer Service Clerk Legislative and Protective Services Director of Development and Environmental Services

The one year pilot project will include tracking of on-site use, as well as public feedback to determine the long term viability of the expanded services at this location.

Does this window look familiar? This circa 1800's stained glass window featuring Sir John A MacDonald has been donated to the Meaford Museum, but with no history of where it came from or how it ended up here in Meaford. If you have any information on this Mystery Window, please get in touch with the Meaford Museum at 519-538-5974 or jsimon@meaford.ca.
