Celebrate this national holiday at one of our various events throughout the municipality. In the town of Meaford, enjoy live entertainment and family fun at Meaford Hall. On Bayfield and Nelson Street bring the whole family to see incredible vintage and classic cars, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Golden Town Cruisers Canada Day Car Show. At dusk, come visit the harbour for a fantastic fireworks display.

In the town of Bognor, stop by the Community Centre and Park from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. for an evening full of Canada Day festivities. Bring the whole family to enjoy live music, games, log sawing, tug of war, horse races, bowling, complementary Canada Day cake and an exciting fireworks displace at dusk.

Enjoy a wonderful evening of roots music and dancing at the Ceilidh and Highland Concert. This year The Jocelyn Pettit Band – a West Coast Canadian fiddler, step dancer, singer and composer – will be playing the best of New Trad Celtic and World music. The Grey County Highlanders Pipe Band will also be playing. This unforgettable outdoor concert is free with a collection taken for the continuing restoration and maintenance of the Historic Leith Church. Don’t forget a blanket and chairs!

Watch downtown Meaford transform into a whimsical, winter wonderland during the BIA Window Unveiling and Kinsmen Santa Clause Parade. Beginning at 6:30 pm, Sykes Street will become a pedestrian mall while local businesses showcase the unveiling of their new holiday window displays. Bring the whole family out to see the displays, watch the parade, light the town tree, and enjoy a visit from Santa. This incredible family event is the perfect way to kick off the holidays.

Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols | December 18th 7:30 p.m.


Historic Leith Church

Visit the Historic Leith Church in its lamp lit warmth and beauty to hear again the story of the birth of Christ in word and song. The nine lessons will be read by members of the North Grey community and the Amanti String Quartet will be playing Advent Music. A congregational carol singing of many favourites will also be taking place. This popular event fills up fast, so be sure to come early.
