This 2025 British historical drama film is co-produced and directed by Nicholas Hytner and written by Alan Bennett. Set in 1916, during World War I, in the fictional town of Ramsden, Yorkshire, the film follows the members of the local choral society which recruits a disparate group of townspeople for a performance of Edward Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius, a work chosen because it was not written by a German. It stars Ralph Fiennes, Roger Allam, Mark Addy, Alun Armstrong, Robert Emms, and Simon Russell Beale. Run time 1 h 53 m

Sunny Sunday Tours of Beautiful Joe Park

Learn about this historic oasis in downtown Meaford with a 30-minute guided walking tour with an expert from the Beautiful Joe Heritage Society.  Highlights include the story of the author who made Meaford’s own Beautiful Joe famous; history of the park and its monuments and bits about nature.  A little something for everyone.  Tours are cancelled if it is raining.  Private tours can be arranged by contacting admin@beautifuljoe.org or leave a message 519-538-5895.
