Harbour Dredging

Sand, silt, and other natural material have built up on the harbour bottom over time. Removing this material helps improve safe boating access and supports harbour operations.

Work is expected to begin on August 17, 2026, with project impacts continuing until mid-October. In-water work is expected to begin August 24 and wrap up by approximately September 15.

In-water dredging must happen during an approved environmental timing window. This helps reduce potential impacts to fish, wildlife, and the surrounding water while the work is completed.

The harbour area, washrooms, fish cleaning station, boat launch, camping, pavilion rentals, and most harbour services are expected to remain open, but access may be affected at times.

The RV sanitary dump station is expected to be closed during the work. Any other closures or access changes will be clearly marked with signage. 

Yes. Parking, vehicle routes, pedestrian routes, and access around the work area may be limited or adjusted. Please follow posted signage and review the site plan before visiting.

The dewatering area is where material removed from the harbour is placed so water can drain out and the sediment can dry before it is tested, moved, reused, or disposed of in line with project requirements.
