Flag Flying and Water Tower Turns Blue for The Victorian Order of Nurses (VON) Week

The VON flag will fly today Sunday, May 19 to Friday, May 24, 2024, at the downtown Market Square flag poles in recognition of VON Week. The water tower will also be lit today Sunday, May 19 and Tuesday, May 21 to Saturday, May 25 in blue in recognition of VON week.

VON, a trusted charity, delivers essential home care and community support to over 10,000 people daily in Ontario and Nova Scotia. Their dedicated team, including volunteers, ensures clients stay healthy, active, and in their homes.

The following service(s) is temporarily unavailable: Accessible parking spots in Meaford Public Library parking lot and Municipal Parking Lot located on Trowbridge St. W across from the Library.

Start Date: Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 9:30 a.m.

End Date: Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 3:00 p.m.

The reason for this service disruption: Library hosting a “Bells on Bikes” Library Program in the two parking lots.

The Municipality of Meaford Celebrates National AccessAbility Week

From May 27 through to May 31, 2024, the Municipality of Meaford will be marking National AccessAbility Week. This is a week dedicated to the celebration and inclusion of people of all abilities.

The week’s events will be kicked off by flying the Municipality’s National AccessAbility Week flag on Monday May 27, at the downtown Market Square flag poles. Each night for the remainder of the week, the water tower will be lit up in blue and yellow in recognition of accessibility as well.

With Victoria Day approaching, the Municipality of Meaford would like to remind those that are looking to set off family fireworks as part of their celebrations to stay safe, celebrate responsibly and follow the rules.

In our municipality, family/consumer fireworks can only be used on private property. The discharge of fireworks must be placed at least 8 meters (18.4 feet) away from all structures and vehicles. The setting of fireworks in the celebration of Victoria Day may be three days before...
