On June 27, Canadian Multiculturalism Day honours the many cultural communities that help build a strong and vibrant Canadian society. The date was designated in 2002 by the Government of Canada as the annual opportunity for all Canadians to:

  • Celebrate the diversity of our country, our society and our communities
  • Affirm our commitment to democracy, equality and mutual respect
  • Appreciate the contributions made by the ethnocultural groups that make up Canadian society

Firework Safety and Regulations Reminder

With Canada Day approaching, the Municipality of Meaford would like to remind those that are looking to set off family fireworks as part of their celebrations to stay safe, celebrate responsibly and follow the rules.

In our municipality, family/consumer fireworks can only be discharged on private property. The discharge of fireworks must be placed at least 8 meters (18.4 feet) away from all structures and vehicles.

The Meaford Public Library Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Lynne Fascinato as the new Chief Executive Officer, effective June 19, 2024.  Lynne brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to public service, having served as the interim CEO since August 9, 2023.

In recognition of National Indigenous People’s Day the Municipality of Meaford will be lighting our water tower in purple, pink, blue, green, and orange on Friday, June 21, 2024.

In collaboration with Indigenous organizations, the Government of Canada chose June 21, as National Indigenous Peoples Day. For generations, many Indigenous peoples and communities have celebrated their culture and heritage currently due to the significance of the summer solstice.
