Applications Open for Community Improvement Grants and Loans

Posted On Tuesday June 30, 2020

As of June 30, 2020 the Municipality of Meaford is accepting applications to the 2020 Community Improvement Plan (CIP) grant and loan programs for non-residential property owners.

In 2019, the Municipality awarded $50,000 in grants and $60,000 in loans to commercial, industrial, and agricultural properties in Meaford. The program has 2 streams – the Downtown CIP for properties in Meaford’s downtown commercial area, and the Economic CIP for properties outside of the historic downtown core.

The CIP program provides funding to allow non-residential property owners to improve their properties through new facades, accessibility upgrades, energy efficiency improvements, and more.

For 2020, this program has expanded to include upgrades for businesses to establish outdoor patios so they can better serve customers while adhering to restrictions in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It is so important to support our local businesses. These investments allow our commercial, industrial and agricultural sectors to maintain and improve their properties, and provide better services to our community” said Manager of Strategic Initiatives Janet Sperling.

Applications will continue to be accepted until the end of the year. For more information on the CIP program and how to apply, visit
