Glow Up Meaford for Canada Day!

Posted On Thursday June 25, 2020

Celebrate Canada Day a little differently this year, by giving your Christmas lights a second chance to shine!

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Municipality of Meaford’s usual Canada Day festivities have been cancelled for July 1st, 2020, including the annual fireworks show. To show off your Canadian pride, we encourage you to get the Christmas lights out of the garage, and decorate and light up your homes this year to spread joy and community spirit across the Municipality of Meaford.

“It has been a difficult year so far, but it has also shown us how much we have to be grateful for as Canadians and Meafordites” said Manager of Strategic Initiatives Janet Sperling. “We’ll have the water tower lights glowing red and white, and we hope you will join us in making our community shine.”

You can also celebrate by wearing red and white, and visiting one of Meaford’s many parks and trails to enjoy the natural beauty of our area. If you celebrate with fireworks, please remember to handle them carefully and be respectful of your neighbours.

However you choose to celebrate this year, we wish you a safe and happy Canada Day.
