Plans and Policies

The Municipality of Meaford is committed to creating a community where every person can participate fully in all aspects of community life. For this reason, it is important that the Municipality continue to plan for the future to ensure its goods, services, programs and/or facilities are fully accessible for people with various types of disabilities.

To meet these needs, the Municipality has created an accessibility plan and policies that meet the legal requirements of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) and ensure people with disabilities can participate fully. Documents will be provided in an accessible format or with communication supports upon request.

Multi-Year Accessibility Plan

The Multi-year accessibility plan shows all the steps the Municipality is taking to remove existing barriers for people with disabilities. We want to make sure we are following the legislation. Each year we will post a status report so you can check on our progress to see how far we have come. We set out timelines to follow so we can be fully accessible.

The Municipality of Meaford has developed an Integrated Accessibility Standards Policy approved by Council and consistent with the accessibility standards and the four core principles of dignity, independence, integration and equal opportunity.

Compliance Reporting

The Municipality is required to complete an annual report on its compliance with the AODA legislation. The 2015 Report is available at the link below.  The next report will be filed at the end of 2017.
