The Municipality of Meaford is committed to building an inclusive society and providing an accessible environment.  Below is a list of links that residents and tourists may find useful and we are continually adding to it.  Please feel free to provide additional suggestions to our Accessibility Coordinator at or 519-538-1060 ext. 1100.

Access Ontario Ministry of Community and Social Services

- Website promoting and supporting Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act Legislation educational materials and resources.

Autism Ontario 

- A non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring that every individual with autism spectrum disorders is provided means to achieve quality of life as a respected member of society. 

Canadian Mental Health Association Grey Bruce

- Provides a comprehensive range of community-based mental health services and support that help people move forward. 

Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB)

- Services offered relative to vision rehabilitation, low vision clinic, technical aids, independent living skills, orientation and mobility instruction.

Canadian Hearing Society (CHS)

- Provides services that enhance the independence of deaf, deafened and hard of hearing people, prevention of hearing loss; hearing counseling, employment services, Ontario interpreting services, etc.

Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC)

- Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) offers financial assistance programs for people with disabilities and seniors to fund repairs, renovations, accessibility modifications and home adaptations.   

Community Living Meaford Community Living

- A non-profit agency that provides support to adults with a developmental disability and their families. 

Emergency Preparedness Guide  For People with Disabilities /Special Needs

- This Emergency Preparedness Guide for People with Disabilities and/or Special Needs was prepared by the Government of Ontario’s Emergency Management Ontario in partnership with the Accessibility Directorate of Ontario and provides special emergency preparedness considerations and advice for Ontarians with disabilities and/or special needs, including seniors.

Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC)

- The Ontario Government has implemented a number of initiatives that offer property tax relief to qualifying individuals.  Property owners who have modified or added to their buildings, specifically to accommodate seniors or persons with disabilities (who would otherwise have to enter an institution) may gain an exemption from taxation for these changes.  The application is made to the MPAC.  For more information, contact MPAC toll-free at 1-866-296-MPAC (1-866-296-6722). 

Ontario March of Dimes

- Provides a wide variety of assistance and potential funding for persons with disabilities. 

Ontario Ministry of Children and Youth Services

- Special Needs Assistance providing programs and services to help children with special needs and their families.

Ontario Ministry of Community and Social Services

- The Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) helps people with disabilities that are in financial need to pay for living expenses like food and housing.

Planning Accessible Events

- A downloadable booklet that highlights many low-cost and no-cost things you can do to make your event more inclusive, including a checklist so you can be sure that everyone can participate.
