SUMMARY:Sea-riously Fun Sock Creatures with Wendy Tomlinson
DESCRIPTION:1:00 pm \nAges 8+ \nPlease register in advance. \nParticipants will learn foundational hand-sewing skills in this fun beginner-friendly water-themed workshop where they will create imaginative fish; ‘sock salmon’ and octopus; ‘socktopus’. Guided through the basics of threading a needle\, tying knots\, and making simple stitches\, participants will transform everyday materials into unique handmade creations. This hands-on activity encourages creativity\, exploration\, and self-expression while providing a relaxed and welcoming space for youth to connect. This 90-minute session combines creative learning with educational components designed to support youth development\, wellbeing\, and social connection. Through expert-led instruction\, hands-on making\, and group interaction\, participants will gain practical sewing skills while building confidence\, strengthening communication\, and engaging in meaningful creative play. The workshop promotes a supportive atmosphere where participants of all skill levels can learn\, experiment\, and celebrate their accomplishments. \nIn partnership with Métis Nation of Ontario.
