Proposal: The Applicant seeks permission to create a recreational-residential development on the subject lands.
The Municipality of Meaford received an official plan amendment application requesting to redesignate the subject lands from "Rural" and "Environmental Protection" to the "Recreational Resort Settlement Area" designation.
The application would facilitate the construction of a “resource-based recreation development with a mix of recreational, community, residential, commercial uses, public parks and trails, a public community centre, and a Village Centre” (as described by Parkbridge).
The proposed development includes as much as 1,250 dwelling units and 2,322 square metres (25,000 square feet) of retail/service commercial space. Although only the Official Plan Amendments (OPA) have been submitted to date, should the OPAs be approved, further zoning by-law amendment and plan of subdivision or condominium applications would also be required for this development.
The subject property is approximately 135 hectares in area with frontage on Hwy 26 and Christie Beach Road.
