Cook Street Reconstruction

The Municipality of Meaford has completed reconstruction of Cook Street between Collingwood Street West and Lombard Street which included watermain improvements at the William Street, Albert Street, Nelson Street, Trowbridge Street West intersections, and 278 Cook Street. The final placement of asphalt on Cook Street between Collingwood Street and Lombard Street occurred in the summer of 2023.

Project Description

The Municipality of Meaford completed the reconstruction of Cook Street between Collingwood Street West and Lombard Street, as well as watermain improvements at the William Street, Albert Street, Nelson Street, Trowbridge Street West intersections, and 278 Cook Street.

R.J. Burnside & Associates Limited was hired to provide engineering services for the project.

The project generally consisted of the following:

  • Reconstruction of approximately 250 metres of road including curb, gutter, and sidewalk along the west side of the street.
  • Replacement of sanitary sewer and local watermain including services to property line.
  • Upgrades to storm sewers.
  • Repairs to the transmission watermain at five locations along Cook Street.
  • Restoration of all disturbed areas.
Project Timeline

Substantially Completed: October 2022

Final asphalt placement: Summer 2023

Budget
 Amended Budget for 2022 was $1,118,300 for construction and engineering services.

The meeting provided details on the proposed design and construction. Attendees had the opportunity to listen to a presentation from R.J. Burnside and Associates Limited and Municipal staff. An open question and answer period followed the presentation.
