Road Resurfacing

This project was completed in Fall 2023 as part of the Municipality of Meaford's 2023 Capital Projects.

The capital budget for 2023 included road resurfacing for approximately 16km of roadways within the Municipality and the funding source for the work included use of the Canada Community-Building Fund (formerly the Federal Gas Tax Fund).

The resurfacing will consist of Micro Surfacing which is a mixture of emulsified asphalt cement and aggregate placed on top of the existing surface to seal the surface, provide a uniform driving surface, and extend the life of the road.

Project Description

The following road sections are planned for resurfacing:

  • 7 Sideroad from Grey Road 7 to 7th Line
  • Bayshore Road from Structure 020 to Sideroad 18
  • Fligg Crescent from 11th Line to the end
  • Gerald Short Parkway from 12th Line to 1st Concession
  • Hurlbert Court from The Blue Mountains-Meaford Townline to the end
  • Margaret Street from St. Vincent Street to Richmond Street
  • Old Highway 26 from Highway 26 to the end
  • 12 Sideroad from 11th Line to Grey Road 112

Road resurfacing is scheduled based on information within the Road State of the Infrastructure Report and the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) as measured by StreetScan. It is important that maintenance intervals are met to prevent future higher cost repairs.

Impacted roads will remain open while work is being completed however traffic delays are to be expected. Drivers are asked to be patient and careful when driving through construction zones and areas where people are working on or near the road.  Duncor Enterprises Inc. will be distributing notices to residents on impacted roadway at least 48 hours prior to starting work. A general Municipal Notice of Construction is available below.
