Trowbridge Street Construction

This project is currently in the Engineering and Design phase. Please check back for updates as they become available.

The Municipality of Meaford is planning the reconstruction of Trowbridge Street West from Sykes Street North to Owen Street and Cook Street from Trowbridge Street West to Berry Street. The reconstruction work will address aging and deteriorated infrastructure such as sanitary sewers, storm sewers, water, sidewalks, and the asphalt roadway.

 Project Description

The project generally consists of:

  • Asphalt road reconstruction of approximately 505 metres on Trowbridge Street between Sykes Street North and Owen Street and approximately 67 metres on Cook Street between Trowbridge Street West and Berry Street.
  • Sanitary sewer replacements throughout the project area and removal of rainwater connections to the system to reduce pressure on the Wastewater Treatment Plan.
  • Storm water improvements throughout the project area, including connection of improper rainwater to the sanitary system.
  • Replacement of undersized watermain on Cook Street and water services to property line.
  • Replacement of aging watermain on Trowbridge Street West and water services to property line.
  • Removal of sidewalks on the north side of the roadway on Trowbridge Street West from Owen Street to Cook Street.
  • Replacement of sidewalks on the south side of the road on Trowbridge Street West from Owen Street to Cook Street.
  • Replacement of sidewalks on both sides of the road on Trowbridge Street West from Cook Street to Sykes Street North.
  • Replacement of sidewalks on Cook Street between Trowbridge Street West and Berry Street.

The Transportation and Environmental Services teams have identified the existing infrastructure on Trowbridge Street is reaching end of life and requires replacement. The Meaford Water and Wastewater Servicing Master Plan supports the improvements being made to the water and sanitary sewer system, and the Road State of the Infrastructure (SOTI) report and recent Road Scans support the reconstruction of the asphalt roadway.
