Trowbridge Street Reconstruction Project
The Municipality of Meaford is planning infrastructure upgrades on Trowbridge Street West (from Sykes Street North to Owen Street) and Cook Street (from Trowbridge Street West to 110 metres south of Berry Street). The project is currently in the engineering and design phase.
Project Scope

Roadwork: Reconstruction of approximately 505 metres on Trowbridge Street and 190 metres on Cook Street.

Sanitary Sewers: Replacement throughout the area, including removal of improper rainwater connections to reduce the load on the Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Stormwater: System improvements and correction of improper connections to the sanitary system.

Watermains:

Replacement of undersized watermain and services to property lines on Cook Street.

Replacement of aging watermain and services to property lines on Trowbridge Street West.

Sidewalks:

Removal of sidewalks on the north side of Trowbridge Street West (Owen Street to Cook Street).

Replacement of sidewalks on the south side of Trowbridge Street West (Owen Street to Cook Street).

Replacement of sidewalks on both sides of Trowbridge Street West (Cook Street to Sykes Street North).

Replacement of sidewalks on Cook Street (Trowbridge Street West to Berry Street).

Project Status
The project is currently in the engineering and design phase.
A Public Information Centre was held on March 27, 2024, to present the proposed design and gather feedback from residents.

Budget
- 2024 Budget: $141,320
- 2025 Budget: $148,400 of expenses and $3,888,320 saving towards construction (contribution to reserves)
- 2026 Budget: $4,906,720 (Estimated, includes use of reserves)
- 2027 Budget: $4,906,720 (Estimated, includes use of reserves)
Total Construction for Phases 1 and 2 is estimated at $10,045,240 (Estimated)
A portion of the funding for this project is anticipated to come from the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund (OCIF). The Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund provides funding to help small, rural and northern communities renew and rehabilitate critical infrastructure.
