Remediation began on August 11, 2020 to remove debris and restore electrical service to the washrooms at Fred Raper park.
Fred Raper Park is located directly on the shoreline of Georgian Bay within the urban core of Meaford. It provides a large waterfront access point for residents and visitors to enjoy during the summer months. It includes playground equipment, picnic tables, a gazebo, and washrooms. This park experienced extensive damage in the fall of 2019 and winter of 2020. A combination of high water levels in Georgian Bay and strong North winds have deposited sand, stone and debris across the entire park area. This debris has accumulated up to 24” deep in some spots. A portion of the park has been temporarily closed to ensure public safety until remediation is complete. We are estimating more than 20 truckloads of debris will be removed.
Parking in the area may be reduced while the work is underway.
