Special Interest

 Forest Therapy Walks

Instructor: Free Spirit Tours, Tamara Fournier

Thanks to special funding from RBC Future Launch Grant, youth in our community received funding to offer Forest Therapy Walks to our community for free! 

 

Join Tamara from Free Spirit Tours (certified Forest Therapy guide) in the woodlands in Memorial Park to enhance your health, wellness and happiness. Together with the forest she will offer a variation of invitations adapted to the natural surroundings. These activities make room for sensory experiences, presence, stillness, listening (to self & others) and more. Dependent on weather, snow shoes will be provided for the walk. Participants should dress accordingly and plan for the walk to last for 2 hours.

  • There are no washrooms accessible for the duration of the program

Beat winter trip and slip hazards and join us for a weekly indoor walk at the Meaford & St. Vincent Community Centre. Self-guided program and walkers walk at their own pace. Pre-Registration Required. No Drop-Ins.

COVID-19 Modifications

  • Participants have 5 minutes to arrive and depart the facility
  • At the time of arrival participants, are required to sanitize upon entry
  • Masks are mandatory for the duration of the program.
  • Participants MUST maintain 3m apart from one another

  • Online Pre-Registration (No Drop-Ins)
  • Socially Distanced “Yoga Stations” for each participants
  • Small Class Sizes, Larger Room
  • No Sharing of Equipment
  • Mask MANDATORY in the facility. Masks may be removed for the duration of the class
  • Entrance/Exit through Dance Hall side of facility
  • Sanitization at entry and exit of facility
  • Participants may arrive 5 minutes prior to the start of class and leave within 5 minutes of the end of class
  • Contact Tracing
  • Participants are encouraged to take a self-assessment test before attending any Municipality of Meaford recreation program. Covid-19 Self-Assessment 
  • Participants are not permitted to attend programs should any COVID-19 symptoms be identified including:
    • Fever or Chills
    • Difficulty Breathing or Shortness of Breath
    • Cough
    • Sore Throat
    • Runny Nose / Congestion
    • Decrease or loss of smell / taste
    • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain
    • Not feeling well, extreme fatigue / sore muscles

 Yoga Therapy for Upper Back, Neck & Shoulders

Advanced Yoga

Don’t led advanced scare you off! Beginners are welcome too! This class offers flows with balance, strengthening and toning poses. This class will dive deeper into breathing techniques, balance poses and modifications to poses with the use of props. Mats, props and blankets supplied.

The Travellin' Yogi

Hula Hoop Dance

Instructor: Samantha McIntosh

Beginner

Learn the foundational moves of hooping while learning both on the body and off the body techniques. This class is an introduction to hoop dance and hoop fitness and finding fluid movement within the hoop. Great way to get fit while having fun.

Advanced

Building on the skills learned in the beginner and refresher classes, these classes take on more complex and challenging moves while working on flow within the hoop.

DIO is a 60-minute total body fitness based dance workout that includes all styles of dance. It incorporates cardio, strength, endurance and flexibility and is paced so anyone can participate. All classes are accessible.
