SUMMER OIL PAINTING WITH ASHLEY IS A SERIES OF NATURE BASED PAINTING CLASSES.

KINDA LIKE THE GROUP OF SEVEN FOR KIDS

In this summer camp, students feel the total pleasure of working at their own easel space within our beautiful little art community. This camp offers all kinds of creative discovery and is well guided so that your kids can reach their own unique artistic potential. Each day, we will complete different components of our painting, starting fresh each morning and revisiting the components of our paintings. Students will be guided through painting lessons, and, bit by bit, will transform a blank canvas into a beautiful expression of a nature-inspired oil painting.

Prepare yourself… their paintings are incredible and capture each artists unique approach to handling the brush, absorbing the lessons and learning how to apply oil paint. This art lasts a lifetime and these paintings often become a treasured piece of artwork. Don’t be surprised if they take centre stage in your home somewhere.

Each day will feel like it’s own special occasion as we paint among the trees in good weather and in fresh en plein air. On stormy days, we paint in the studio.

We bring inclusivity to this fine art form with our lessons- which means kids don’t need to consider themselves artists to be surprised by their hidden talents in this camp.

The feeling of oil painting is a beautiful balance of luxury and mess. Together in our painting community, and with the guidance of my experience in oil painting, we will learn traditional oil painting techniques. Notes of achieving form through value, proportional composition in underpainting and development of painting language and articulation are threads that run like a current in whimsical art stream within the camp. Of course student’s will discover these elements as we uncover the oil painting process- which is a lot of fun and feels very satisfying.  Many of these learnings have guided the best oil painters and have stood the test of time for centuries.

Three day camps are awesome because it gives families total weekend and long weekend flexibility without missing a day of camp! They also prevent kid burn-out.
