Join us at our First Annual Community Safety Fair!

Date:  September 16, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Location:  Meaford & St. Vincent Community Centre (151 Collingwood Street W.)

All ages, free to attend and drop-in! 

As an action in the Meaford Well-being Plan, we are hosting this event in order to strengthen the relationship between members of the public and local enforcement, and enhance public awareness in the realm of safety and well-being!

This event will highlight safety for bike riding, outdoor and wilderness, driving safety, community resources and much more with no registration required to participate.

Bring the whole family and learn all about safety and well-being in our municipality. Light refreshments and snacks will be provided, and door prizes will be available to win!

Schedule of Activities

This event runs from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and will feature the following activities:

  • Ride Smart Bicycle Safety Program on the arena floor hosted by the OPP for kids. Kids are welcome to bring their own bicycles if preferred, or bicycle and helmet will be provided.
  • Connect with many great local organizations who foster well-being and safety in the community and learn all about the resources available in the large hall.
  • Touch a truck in the upper arena parking lot. Get up close and touch a fire truck, ambulance and other big vehicles used in our municipality every day to keep this great community going. First responder staff will also be on site to connect and chat.

The following educational sessions will also be on offer in the small hall of the arena, with limited capacity, so get your seat by showing up early!

  • AdventureSmart Hug a Tree Program, wilderness safety for children. Two sessions to choose from with limited capacity from 10:30 a.m.- 11:30 a.m., or 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. For more information about the program, visit https://www.adventuresmart.ca/programs/hug-a-tree-and-survive
  • DriveWise Driving Safety Seminar for Older Adults, DriveWise will offer information sessions specifically designed to assist seniors who are required to renew their license. This seminar will help prepare for the required testing and takes place from 11:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.
