As of Friday, April 19 the Meaford Leaf and Yard Waste Depot is open for the 2024 season! 

The Municipality of Meaford entered into an agreement with the City of Owen Sound in order to give Meaford residents increased access to yard waste facilities.

Meaford residents may now use the Owen Sound Leaf and Yard Waste Composting Site for the 2024 season. The site is located at 2450 28th Avenue East (the southwest corner of the intersection of 28th Avenue East and 26th Street East, north of 20th Street East).

The Meaford Leaf and Yard Waste Depot runs from April to November annually.

See below information about what is accepted and not accepted at the depot. Operating hours for the Leaf and Yard Waste Depot are:

  • Fridays from 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Mulch and Compost

Available for pick-up while quantities last during operating hours. You are required to bring your own shovel to load your materials.

Please wear proper footwear.

It is recommended when picking up compost that before planting your garden you mix it with soil as compost is extremely rich in nutrients and organic materials.
