Load Restrictions

Starting March 1, 2024 load restrictions will be in place for all Municipality of Meaford roads. The load restriction requires a reduced load of 5 tonnes per axle. This restriction will be in place until Monday, April 15th 2024.

Load restrictions are put into place on our roads each year in the spring when roads are weakened by excess water in the road base and can be damaged by heavy vehicles. Once the roads are determined to be structurally sound, load restrictions are lifted. Passenger vehicles are exempt from these restrictions.

Load restriction periods are weather dependent and may be extended as late as May 31, 2024, if necessary. If this period is to be extended due to weather conditions, further updates will be provided here on our website, social media channels and via a news release.

There may be situations where an exemption is needed while the load restrictions are in place. In this case, completion of the Half Load Exemption Form is required. Please complete the form and submit to the Municipal Administrative Office at 21 Trowbridge Street West, or e-mail to roads@meaford.ca.

Oversized Loads

From time to time it may be necessary for the movement of oversized loads using Municipality of Meaford Roads. A permit is required to facilitate the safe use of Municipal roads. Please see the Oversized Load Permit Application.

Please submit your Oversized Load Permit Application to roads@meaford.ca. Payments must be submitted by cheque and placed in the dropbox at the Administration Office at 21 Trowbridge Street West. Please make the cheque out to the Municipality of Meaford.
