Serving Meaford residents with improved recycling services and continued curbside collection from Miller Waste Systems 

What’s changing? 

Beginning January 1, 2026, your curbside recycling collection will transition to Ontario’s new extended producer responsibility (EPR) recycling system, managed by Circular Materials,which will oversee recycling services in Meaford. Miller Waste, contracted by Circular Materials, will continue to handle the local collection of recycling. 

Your recycling collection day and blue bin will remain the same. 


Please note that Miller Waste Systems will continue to provide garbage and organics collection on behalf of the Municipality of Meaford. 

What to expect 

  • Same day for recycling, same blue bin or recyclable bags - your week for recycling collection remains the same as before. 

  • Miller Waste will still be collecting your waste – collection days will remain the same, with waste set out still at 7:00 a.m.  

  • Garbage and organics still collected by Miller Waste Systems - no change in how your green bins and garbage are handled.  

  • Updated acceptable materials list - Under the producer-responsibility model, additional material categories will gradually be added. A full list of currently accepted materials is available at circularmaterials.ca/meaford, or download the updated Recycling Guide.

Why this change? 

Ontario’s recycling system is shifting to better support efficient, standardized recycling across municipalities by assigning responsibility for blue box materials to producers of packaging and printed paper. This lets the Municipality maintain essential local services like collection, while benefiting from provincially coordinated recycling programs.

Will my blue bin or collection day change? 
No. Your blue bin remains and your collection day remains the same. 
What if my recycling isn’t picked up? 
Contact Miller Waste by phoning 519-372-1855 or emailing area17@millerwaste.ca to report a missed collection. 
How will I know what new materials I can recycle? 
To view up-to-date information, you can download our waste app, Recycle Coach, or visit our website at meaford.ca/waste and use the built-in sorting tool to check what goes where.
 Do I need to do anything differently for garbage or organics? 
 No. Miller Waste Systems will continue to manage garbage and organics collection for the Municipality as before.
