The Municipality of Meaford is announcing that Councillor Steven Bartley has submitted his resignation from Council due to his relocation outside of the municipality. Councillor Bartley will not be returning to Council following the summer break.
Councillor Bartley has served the Municipality of Meaford with dedication since first being elected to Council in December 2014. Over more than a decade of service, he has contributed significantly to decision-making and community development, helping to guide key initiatives that have shaped the municipality.
Mayor Ross Kentner shared:
“I have truly enjoyed working alongside Councillor Bartley during his years on Council. His dedication, steady leadership, and commitment to our community have made a lasting impact. Our community is better for having had him serve, and on behalf of Council and residents, I want to thank him for his service and wish him the very best in this next chapter.”
At the September 8, 2025, Council meeting, staff will bring forward a report recommending that Council declare the seat vacant. At the following Council meeting, staff will present options regarding how the vacancy will be filled.
The Municipality of Meaford extends sincere thanks to Councillor Bartley for his commitment, leadership, and many years of service to the community, and wishes him all the best in his future endeavors.
