The inaugural meeting of the Pumped Storage Advisory Committee (PSAC) took place on Thursday, May 9, at the Meaford Council Chambers, marked by a warm welcome from Deputy Mayor Shirley Keaveney, who chaired the inaugural meeting. Mayor Ross Kentner was also in attendance for the opening and expressed gratitude to committee members for their pivotal role in addressing significant decisions facing the council.

The meeting commenced with introductions from committee members, including individuals from diverse backgrounds such as business, youth representation, and public safety. Matt Smith, the Interim CAO, provided an overview of the committee's Terms of Reference, emphasizing their mandate and role.

Nigel Bellchamber conducted a session on meeting procedures and best practices, drawing from his extensive experience in municipal governance spanning over four decades. He discussed the rules of Canadian government and the importance of maintaining decorum during discussions.

The meeting also included a presentation from Brian Lambie on media training. The committee concluded by approving meeting dates for 2024, laying the groundwork for future discussions.
