Due to the severity of the current and forecasted weather conditions and the impact on the Municipality’s road and sidewalk infrastructure, the Municipality of Meaford has declared a Significant Weather Event on December 24, 2022 that will remain in effect until further notice.

The declaration of a significant weather event, as per Regulation 239/02 of the Ontario Municipal Act, is a notice of a reduced level of service but not road closures. It is to notify the public that caution is to be observed when travelling on roads maintained by the Municipality. It may take longer than usual to bring the roads back to optimal conditions.

Only essential travel is advised. If you must travel, please use extreme caution, and allow yourself extra time to reach your destination. Travel on municipal roads and sidewalks maintained by the Municipality of Meaford require extra caution during a declared Significant Weather Event. All municipal streets and sidewalks are in a “state of repair” until an end to the significant weather event is announced.

Please monitor the Municipal website and social media pages for updates and notification when the event has been declared over. For more information about Significant Weather Events, please visit significant weather events under the Winter Maintenance page of the website.
