On Thursday, October 19, 2023, the Municipality of Meaford will be participating in “Light it Up!” for National Disability Employment Awareness Month by lighting up the water tower blue and purple during the evening.

This one-night, national coordinated lighting event runs during National Disability Employment Awareness Month and helps to spotlight the many ways people who have a disability contribute to businesses and their communities. Across Canada, communities will be participating in the event by lighting bridges, buildings, landmarks, and signs in purple and blue.

A strong workforce is one inclusive of the skills and talents of all individuals, including people with disabilities. Disability Employment Awareness Month offers an excellent opportunity for employment supports providers and employers to demonstrate their ongoing commitment to Canadians with disabilities and to help promote employment inclusion in our country.
