Staff from the Environmental Services team have begun flushing fire hydrants as part of their annual maintenance program within Leith.

Overview

Start date: Tuesday, May 5, 2026
Estimated completion: Tuesday, May 12, 2026

During flushing activities, residents may notice:

  • Temporary discoloration or cloudiness in tap water

  • Short-term reductions in water pressure

  • Water flushed onto the roadway may leave puddles after flushing is completed

If cloudy or coloured water is experienced, residents are advised to run the cold water tap in the bathtub until the water clears. This tap is recommended as it does not have a screen that could collect debris from the system.

Please drive with caution in areas where hydrant flushing is occurring and follow any posted signage.
