Back to SearchThe Municipality of Meaford would like to inform residents and visitors of a temporary road closure of Sykes Street North and Nelson Street East for the Freedom of the City event, hosted by the Municipality in partnership with the 4th Canadian Division Training Centre on Friday, July 18. Theroad will be closed for approximately 1 hour to ensure the safety of the military parade as well as spectators.
Overview
The following service will be temporarily impacted:
The roadways of (1) Sykes Street North, from Trowbridge Streetto Collingwood Street,and (2) Nelson Street East, from Sykes Street to Bayfield Street will be closed for the event. This includes on-street parking.Several streets will also have rolling closures that move with the parade, including (1) Bayfield Street, from Nelson Street East to Bridge Street, (2) Bridge Street, from Bayfield Street to Don Bumstead Dr, and (3) Don Bumstead Drive, from Bridge Street to St. Vincent Street. Sidewalks in this area may be occupied by spectators and pedestrians.

Reason for disruption: Setup and facilitation of the Freedom of the City military parade.
Alternative services: Detour route will be marked and can be found below. Pedestrians and drivers are advised to exercise caution in the event area.
