During the week of September 18 to September 22, the Meaford water tower will light up blue in support of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. Prostate cancer is the #1 cancer in Canadian men, impacting 1 in 8 men throughout their lifetime (Canadian Cancer Society, 2022).
Throughout the month of September, we encourage open discussions about prostate cancer prevention, early detection, and the range of resources available for men, their families, and loved ones impacted by this condition. It is important to note that every man should have a PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) test done by the age of 50 (or 40-45 if they have a family history). Because when diagnosed early, prostate cancer is nearly 100% treatable.
