Council appoints members to advisory committees and boards at the beginning of their term, and when there is a vacancy. The Appointment Policy outlines the process followed for appointments. The Nominating Committee reviews all appointments before Council approves them.

Council members are also appointed to various groups at the recommendation of the Mayor. This process is governed by the Procedural By-law.

Committee and Board positions are voluntary, with no remuneration.
