Council appoints members to advisory committees and boards at the beginning of their term, and when there is a vacancy. The Appointment Policy outlines the process followed for appointments.
Council members are also appointed to various groups at the recommendation of the Mayor. This process is governed by the Procedural By-law.
Most committee and board positions are voluntary, with no remuneration.
General Requirements
- All applicants must live, work or own a property or business in the Municipality of Meaford.
- Applicants for the BIA Board must be owners or tenants of commercial property within the BIA.
- Applicants must not be employed by the Municipality of Meaford.

The Committee of Adjustment is a quasi-judicial body established by Council as permitted under Section 44(1) of the Planning Act. The Municipality of Meaford’s Committee of Adjustment is comprised of five appointed members who meet monthly to hear applications for consent, minor variance, and alterations to legal non-conforming structures and uses.
