You have three opportunities to speak at a Council meeting. One is during the public question period. The others are by asking to make a presentation or a deputation on a specific agenda item.

Ask a Public Question

To ask a question at a Council meeting, all you need to do is attend a Council meeting and approach the podium during the public question period. You will be asked to state your name, and you will have 2 minutes to ask your question.

This information will become part of the public record in the minutes for that Council meeting.

Make a Presentation

To make a deputation to Council, please contact the Clerk's office at 519-538-1060 ext. 1115 or by email to clerk@meaford.ca. The clerk will work with you to get you on the Agenda for an upcoming Council meeting. If you have a PowerPoint presentation, please provide the slide deck to the clerk's office before the meeting.

Make a Deputation on an Agenda Item

If there is an item on the Council agenda that you want to give your opinion on before Council makes a decision, you can make a deputation at the Council meeting. Please contact the Clerk’s Office at 519-538-1060 ext 1115 or by email to clerk@meaford.ca before the meeting, or tell the Clerk in person before the meeting starts. You will be asked to fill out a form, and will have 5 minutes to give your opinion.
