An Evening of John Prine
Celebrating his 80th birthday
Celebrate the life, music, and enduring legacy of legendary songwriter John Prine in In Spite of Ourselves: An Evening of John Prine — a heartfelt tribute marking what would have been John’s 80th birthday. Featuring an all-star lineup of acclaimed Canadian musicians, this special evening will honour Prine’s remarkable catalogue of songs filled with humour, honesty, heartbreak, and humanity.
Blair Packham, one of Canada’s finest songwriters and former leader of the JUNO-nominated band The Jitters, brings his rich storytelling style and lifelong admiration for Prine to the stage. Joining him is the ever-entertaining Johnny Max, frontman of the two-time JUNO-nominated Johnny Max Band, whose passion for Prine’s songwriting inspired this special project.
Award-winning Alt/Country/Americana artist Kirsten Jones adds her engaging stage presence, warmth, and wit to the celebration, while veteran performer Bill Craig — originally from Ireland and a longtime fixture of the Canadian music scene — rounds out the evening with his powerful baritone and deep appreciation for Prine’s music.
Together, these accomplished artists will perform beloved classics and hidden gems from John Prine’s incredible songbook in an unforgettable evening of stories, laughter, and song.
