Grant Funding Received for David Johnston Park

The Waterfront of David Johnson Park

Meaford, Ontario – February 6, 2017 – The Municipality of Meaford would like to announce that a grant for a total of $10,100 has been received for accessibility upgrades to David Johnston Park.

The grant was received through the Enabling Accessibility Fund. The funds will be used towards the David Johnston Park upgrades, allowing the park to include 200 feet of Mobi-Mat® RecPaths™.

Mobi-Mats are portable and durable rollout mats designed to enhance mobility for pedestrians, individuals with mobility related disabilities, and wheelchair and stroller users. The mat provides a portable walkway across the sand allowing for easy access to the water’s edge.

The upgrades to David Johnston Park are scheduled to be completed by spring 2017. The park was given its name on May 20, 2016 to commemorate the visit made by Governor General of Canada, His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, who came to Meaford to present the Municipality’s new coats of arms and insignia.
