National AccessAbility Week Special Events

Meaford, Ontario – Monday May 28, 2018 – National AccessAbility Week kicks off in the Municipality of Meaford today and continues through June 2.  This dedicated week promotes the inclusion and celebration of people of all abilities

The festivities will be marked with the flying of theRick Hansen Foundation’s ‘National AccessAbility Week’ flag at the flagpole beside Meaford Hall. The water tower’s night colours will be displaying blue and yellow in recognition of National AccessAbility Week.

Follow Meaford Public Library’s social media campaign as they showcase some of the accessible services and stop by to see for yourself! Residents are encouraged to come check out new and existing accessible offerings including daylight floor lamps, screen reader for the accessible computer and Playaways all purchased through a grant received earlier this year. 

Check out the Municipal social media daily to learn of events including a special display at the Meaford Museum and a dance class for those with Parkinson’s disease, MS, Stroke and other movement disorders. Wrapping up the week will be an accessible-related table at the How-To in 10 Festival at the Meaford & St. Vincent Community Centre on June 2 between 10 am – 2 pm.   Information on other new accessible provisions will also be showcased throughout the week on the Municipal Social Media. 

It is a time for individuals, communities and workplaces to recognize those with disabilities, and to promote the removal of barriers to ensure a more accessible future for allParticipate in the fun and promote accessibility awareness!
