Road Closure Update: 8th Sideroad Between 11th Line and 12th Line

The Municipality of Meaford is advising residents of a road closure along 8th Sideroad due to damage caused by recent weather conditions.

Overview

The following impacts and measures are currently in place:

  • 8th Sideroad is closed between 11th Line and 12th Line due to substantial washouts around the bridge caused by rainfall and snowmelt.
  • Significant washouts have compromised the road surface and bridge approaches, requiring repairs.
  • As an alternative route, the no winter maintenance portion of 12th Line off 10 Sideroad has been opened for local traffic and will continue to be maintained until access via 8th Sideroad is restored.

Start date:Monday, March 9, 2026

Approximate end date:To be determined

Reason for disruption: Severe washouts around the bridge caused by rainfall and snowmelt

Safety Notice

Residents and motorists are reminded to avoid the closed section of roadway and to use caution when travelling on rural roads affected by spring runoff. Barricades and signage are in place, and Municipal staff and Emergency Services are supporting safety measures.

Further updates will be provided as they become available.
