Non-resident Fee Subsidy

Meaford residents are eligible for a fee subsidy for non-resident user fee when registering your children for minor sports in the City of Owen Sound.

When you regsiter for minor sports, residents of Meaford will only pay 10% of the non-resident user fee out of pocket – that’s $10/child/sport for field/floor sports and $16.70/child/ice sport.

The City of Owen Sound will track the registrations then send an invoice to the Municipality of Meaford for the remaining 90% that is subsidized at the end of the registration period.

For families with two or three children registering for one or more sports, this means lower up-front costs and avoiding the financial stress compared to waiting for a refund.

Playground Recreation Rehabilitation and Expansion Project

The Municipality of Meaford is looking to update and expand some of the parks and playgrounds around the municipality. We are looking to get the publics’ opinion on what type of playground equipment you would like to see in the local parks! We would also like to get your opinion on where you think new playgrounds should be installed. We are at an early stage in planning and we’re keen hear your views on both the playground proposal and the potential to address locations where you feel new playgrounds would be of good use!

Your feedback is important to us and we will use it to refine the designs of the playgrounds and what equipment you would see. It will also allow our elected representatives to make an informed decision on how to progress the project.

A Public Information Centre will be held on Thursday July 20th, 2017 from 10:00am-12:00pm and from 5:00pm-7:00pm at McCarroll Park (210 Parker Street East) to provide further information on this project and to allow for input from the public. This will be an informal session whereby residents can drop by any time during the two-hour sessions.
