Changes Coming to Recycling Collection in Meaford in 2026

Beginning January 1, 2026, residential recycling collection in the Municipality of Meaford will transition to Ontario’s new Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) recycling system. Under this updated provincial framework, responsibility for the management, collection, and processing of blue box materials shifts from municipalities to the producers of packaging and printed paper.

As part of this province-wide change, Circular Materials, a not-for-profit organization representing producers, will oversee recycling services in Meaford. Miller Waste Systems, contracted by Circular Materials, will continue to provide local curbside recycling collection.

Residents will see no changes to their recycling collection day, blue bin use, or set-out requirements. Recycling, garbage, and organics must continue to be placed at the curb by 7:00 a.m. as usual. The Municipality of Meaford will continue to manage garbage and organics collection, as well as operate local waste drop-off facilities.

What Residents Can Expect

  • Same collection day and same blue bin. No changes to your recycling schedule.
  • Collection by Miller Waste Systems. Miller Waste will continue to handle curbside recycling, garbage, and organics collection.
  • Updated materials accepted for recycling. Circular Materials will introduce updates to accepted blue box materials. A full and current list is available at meaford.ca/recyclingupdate and will be updated as new materials are added.
