Notice of Nomination for Office

The municipal election for offices within the Municipality and School Boards will be held in October 2026. Offices to be elected in the Municipality of Meaford include: Mayor (1), Deputy Mayor (1), Councillors (5) and School Board Trustee (1 per School Board). Individuals interested in running for office must file a nomination with the Municipal Clerk. Nominations must be filed before soliciting or accepting contributions for election purposes or incurring expenses on campaign activities.

Nominations will be accepted during the following dates and times at the Municipal Administration Office, 21 Trowbridge St. W., Meaford:

  • Friday, May 1, 2026 through to Thursday, August 20, 2026, during regular business hours (Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., excluding statutory holidays)
  • Friday, August 21, 2026, between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

A prescribed fee in the amount of $200.00 for Mayor and $100.00 for all other candidates is required, payable by cash, debit, certified cheque or money order to The Municipality of Meaford. The endorsement of at least 25 persons must accompany the nomination form. Those wishing to submit a nomination are encouraged to make an appointment to ensure staff availability.

Nomination forms will be available from the Municipality beginning April 20, 2026, by visiting the Municipal Office at 21 Trowbridge St. W. or online at www.meafordvotes.ca. This website will be updated regularly during 2026 to provide information to voters and candidates.
