7th Line Road Repair and Rehabilitation

The Municipality of Meaford is undertaking stabilization and reconstruction work on a section of 7th Line where the roadway has experienced cracking and settlement associated with a failed section of the road and embankment. The project is intended to address the underlying roadway and drainage conditions and provide a more stable and durable road structure.

The work has been designed to improve the stability of the affected section of the road while also improving drainage and protecting the roadway and surrounding slope from erosion. The project will restore the roadway to a safe, stable and functional condition and help reduce the potential for further deterioration.

The project will involve the removal and reconstruction of the affected section of the road, including excavation of failed and unsuitable material, installation of geotextile and geogrid reinforcement, new granular road base and sub-base, and full-depth asphalt replacement. New sub-drainage will also be installed to improve water management beneath the roadway.

The surrounding slope and disturbed areas will be restored with topsoil, seed and erosion-control measures. Temporary erosion and sediment controls will be maintained throughout construction, and the site will be cleaned up and restored following completion of the work.
