Interlibrary Loan is a service that helps eligible patrons borrow books that are not available in the Meaford Public Library catalogue. To use this service, you must have a valid Meaford Public Library card and be a resident of the Municipality of Meaford.
How to use Interlibrary Loan
- If the book or audiobook is not available on our catalogue make an ILLO request by contacting the library via phone or filling out an ILLO request form online.
- The following items cannot be requested on ILLO:
- Material in current and/or recurring demand such as new books (2-week loan) and those in high demand. Requested items must be published at least one year before it can be ordered.
- Movies
- Rare, fragile, and/or valuable books and manuscripts
- Current editions of standard reference materials, including academic textbooks
- Materials in format or size not suitable for loan such as kits and loose-leaf materials
- Entire issues of periodicals
- The following items cannot be requested on ILLO:
- Users can only order two items at a time. All submitted orders will be approved by Library ILLO staff before moving through the ILLO system.
- Interested in searching yourself? Visit the Self-Serve Interlibrary Loan platform called Discover to Delivery or D2D to start searching. If you would like to request items on a self-serve basis, please reach out to staff to create your D2D account.
- 3 weeks, 1 renewal (if approved by the lending library)
- A $5 fee will be applied for failure to pick up requested items or if an item is cancelled while in transit from the lending library.
- A late fee of $0.25 cents/day applies for overdue items.
- Attached barcode card must be returned with item, otherwise a $5 fee will be applied.
- Fees will be charged for damaged items.
- Items not returned by lending library’s due date may be charged a replacement fee at the lending library’s discretion.
- Patrons with more than $5 in charges on their account are unable to borrow items from the library and the e-Library.

Purchase Suggestions
Make a purchase suggestion through our online catalogue. Before you recommend a purchase, please search the catalogue to ensure the Library doesn’t already own the title.
Sign in to your account click on My Purchase Suggestions on the left menu, choose New Purchase Suggestion and fill in the form. To sign into your account, use your 14-digit library card number located on the back of your library card, do not enter spaces, and the last 4 digits of your phone number as your PIN/password.
Generally, we do not purchase specialized, academic, and older titles. These may be requested through interlibrary loan.
